If there are any disruptions in ferry traffic on the English Channel, vehicles approaching the port of Dover may cause congestion. In order to prevent such situation, Operation Brock was created.

Operation Brock's primary mission is to maintain high road capacity in Kent during busy periods. If you are heading to the port of Dover or Eurotunnel terminal in Folkestone, you may come across this operation.

When the operation is in place, vehicles have to follow temporary road signs. Any vehicle not complying with the signage can be stopped and may risk a fine.

The operation can be set up overnight. Traffic is divided between different lanes, so the M20 and other roads are kept open for other users. Traffic approaching the port of Dover or Eurotunnel is controlled more effectively during the operation.

Operation Brock is divided into phases. The British police decides which phase is implemented. The map below shows changes in traffic organization for each phase of the operation.
