Strike in Finnish stevedoring sector [UPDATE]

UPDATE [28/03/24]
Transport Workers' Trade Union AKT in Finland announced that the current strike, which was supposed to last until April 1, will last until April 8 at 06:00.
Vehicles without drivers will not be handled in Finnish ports during the strike.

UPDATE [21/03/24]
Transport Workers' Trade Union AKT in Finland announced that the current strike, which was supposed to last until March 25, will last until April 1 at 06:00.
As usual vehicles without drivers will not be handled in Finnish ports during the strike.
Tallink Silja oparator informed that they will start oparating with units without drivers on Tuesday morning April 2. The oparator asks drivers not to arrive too early before booked departure due to limited space area in Helsinki West Harbour.

UPDATE [07/03/24]
Transport Workers’ Union AKT has announced a strike on 11-25 of March 2024. The strike affects the whole stevedoring sector in Finland.
Protests will start at 06:00 on Monday 11/03/2024 and end at 06:00 on Monday 25/03/2024.
Vehicles without drivers will not be handeled on departures from and to Finland. Units with drivers will be accepted on all departures.
We will inform about possible timetable changes.

UPDATE [13/02/24]
Transport Workers’ Union AKT has announced a strike on 14-17 of February 2024. The strike affects the whole stevedoring sector in Finland.
Protests will start at 06:00 on Wednesday 14/02/2024 and end at 06:00 on Saturday 17/02/2024.
Tallink Silja, Viking Line and Finnlines informed that vehicles without drivers will not be handled except on following departures:
- Tallink Silja: departures at 07:30 and 10:30 from Tallinn to Helsinki, departures 07:30 and 10:30 from Helsinki to Tallinn;
- Viking Line: departures from Turku in the evening on Friday 16/02.
Units with drivers will be accepted on all departures.

UPDATE [26/01/24]
Transport Workers’ Union AKT has announced a strike on 1-2 of February 2024. The strike affects the whole stevedoring sector in Finland.
Viking Line, Tallink Silja and Finnlines informed that their ferries will opearte to the standard schedule while the strike is in place, but vehicles without drivers will not be handled in Finnish ports. Units with drivers can be accepted on all departures.

UPDATE [12/12/23]
Transport Workers’ Union AKT has announced a strike in Finland that will start on 14th of December at 6:00 and will end on 15th of December at 6:00.
The strike affects the whole stevedoring sector in Finland meaning that handling units cannot be accepted also on Tallink Silja's vessels between Finland-Estonia-Finland and Finland-Sweden-Finland.
Please notice that Tallink Silja and Viking Line vessels will operate according to normal timetable and units with drivers can be accepted on all departures.

UPDATE [02/03/23]
Tallink Silja is glad to inform that the Finnish Transport Workers’ Union AKT’s strike has ended after the negotiating parties reached an agreement on Wednesday 1 March. This means that stevedores in Helsinki and Turku will return to work on Thursday 2 March and Tallink Silja, as well as all operators which sail from Finland, will be able to transport handling units from/to Helsinki and Turku effective immediately.

UPDATE [13/02/23]
Transport Workers’ Union AKT has announced a strike in Finland starting on Wednesday 15 February and continuing until further notice.
The strike affects the whole stevedoring sector in Finland meaning that handling units cannot be accepted also on Tallink Silja's vessels between Finland-Estonia-Finland and Finland-Sweden-Finland.
The negotiations will continue at the end of the week, and we will follow the situation and report about any changes immediately.
Please notice that Tallink Silja’s vessels will operate according to normal timetable and units with drivers can be accepted on all departures.
